Those are easy to avoid.Even at the protest areas you will be treated kindly or with indifference. I must suggest at this point to not be lulled. I expect the peaceful protestors will be attacked with deadly force. Combat should be expected at some protest area.For vacations, Thailand remains fine and safe. Hotels are becoming pleasantly affordable, from already great prices. Folks who have never been able to stay in a 5-star hotel, this is your moment........NOT "Occupy" Bangkok. The Whistlers are not a Mob. Mob is a bad word. A mob is a large group that is out of control, such as the Thaksin mob of 2010 who set Central World and about three dozen buildings ablaze, while they shot bullets and grenades downtown. That mob shot the Dusit Thani hotel with an RPG. The Whistlers' Revolution is not a mob but a huge peaceful group who demand change.The Whistlers' are NOT doing an "Occupy Bangkok" in the sense that Americans think of Occupy Wall Street. Back home in America, I saw some of the "occupy" protestors. It was a clown protest led by clowns. The only thing they were missing were giant red shoes. The Whistlers are not clowns. The Whistlers are a serious group of people with just cause for their actions.If you call this "Occupy Bangkok," many of the most serious Americans will think it is a circus led by clowns. This is not the case. This is a serious showdown by serious people.For me, this is the Whistlers' Revolution, January Bangkok Showdown.We all know that provocateurs will attack. H.M. the King’s Birthday is a public holiday in Thailand to commemorate the birth of King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the King of Thailand. King Bhumibol Adulyadej is the longest reigning monarchy in the world. People in Thailand celebrate H.M. the King’s Birthday along with Father’s Day on 5 December every year.

H.M. the King’s Birthday 2012 falls on Wednesday, 5 December 2012.
When is H.M. the King’s Birthday 2013?
H.M. the King’s Birthday 2013 falls on Thursday, 5 December 2013.
His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej
His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej was born on December 5, 1927. He ascended the throne on 9 June 1946 and have reigned Thailand until recently. Thus, King Bhumibol Adulyadej is widely knows as the world’s longest reigning monarchy. The birthday of King Bhumibol Adulyadej is observed as Father’s Day as well as national holiday in Thailand while the birthday of Queen Sirikit, King Bhumibol’s birthday, is commemorated as Thailand’s Mother’s Day which is also a public holiday.
H.M. the King’s Birthday 2012 Celebration
During the celebration of H.M. the King’s Birthday in Thailand, some large portraits of the King are displayed throughout the country. Flags, banners, and lamps, are also set as a decoration along many streets in Thailand to celebrate King’s Birthday as an honor to H.M. the King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
Besides those jazzy decorations, parades, musical concerts, festivals, and street market are also organized during H.M. the King’s Birthday celebration. Since the event is observed as a public holiday, most Thailand employees are granted a day off so that they are able to enjoy the festive atmosphere of King’s birthday.
H.M. the King’s Birthday is known as Father’s Day in Thailand. Thus, many people in Thailand pay respect to their father during the day by giving the fathers gifts or taking them to have dinner at a restaurant.
